Celebrities & Triathlon
Celebrities and former professional athletes from other sports take part in triathlons to challenge their fitness and to raise funds and awareness for chosen charities. Here are just some of the famous names who have enjoyed taking part in triathlon over recent years. Did you know that cycling star Lance Armstrong was a professional triathlete before he turned to cycling?
Other well know celebrities who have been involved in triathlon include:
- Pippa Middleton, sister of Kate, took part at Blenheim 2011 as a relay. Has also done off road duathlon events.
- Alastair Campbell, journalist, broadcaster, political aide and author has taken part in several triathlons. The London Triathlon in 2004 was his debut.
- Jenson Button, Formula 1 Champion, has taken part in several triathlons, including the London Triathlon.
- Vernon Kay, TV and radio presenter, took part in the London Triathlon in 2010.
- Iwan Thomas, former GB 400m runner, took part in the Blenheim triathlon in 2010.
- James Cracknell, British rowing Champion, regularly competes in triathlons and made his GB age group triathlon debut at the Holten ETU Triathlon European Championships in 2009.
- Kate Silverton, journalist and TV presenter, has taken part in several triathlons including the London Triathlon.
- Jasmine Harman, TV presenter, took part in a women-only triathlon in 2010.
- Jennifer Lopez, American actress and singer, took part in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in 2008.
- Matthew McConaughey, American actor, took part in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in 2008.
- Anna Kournikova, professional tennis player, did the run section of the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in 2008.
