Leeds Satellite Centre

The High Performance Triathlon Centre in Leeds is the base for all the triathletes in the North of England who are on World Class Programmes.  Athletes based at the centre include world champions Brownlee and Jonny Brownlee. Leeds Met students on Carnegie scholarships train at the centre on a daily basis alongside members of the student triathlon club.

Universities in Leeds
 
The University of Leeds was founded in 1904, but its origins go back to the nineteenth century with the founding of the Leeds School of Medicine in 1831 and then the Yorkshire College of Science in 1874. 
 
The student population is 31,000 and Leeds students have the benefit of a friendly campus between the city centre and Headingley, where many students also live.
 
The university has a strong reputation for sporting excellence and teams compete regularly at the highest levels of the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league and is currently ranked 15th in the country, with aspirations to become a top ten institution out of the 157 universities and colleges competing.
 
Each year the university supports over 20 elite athletes, providing funding and support services to ensure elite athletes have the infrastructure that allows them to compete at the highest level whilst studying. The university also offers sporting scholarships to elite athletes in conjunction with Npower whilst offering Olympic scholarships to prospects preparing to compete at future Olympic Games.
 
Leeds Metropolitan University’s ‘Carnegie’ sports facilities are among the best in the country, including a swimming pool, dance studio, synthetic turf pitches, grass pitches, athletics track, weights and conditioning rooms, squash courts, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, fitness rooms and a climbing wall. 
 
The University is one of the largest and most popular in the UK with over 41,000 students. Leeds Met has a vibrant and growing international community with over 3,700 international students from over 120 countries.
